Oversharing Online

Personally, I do not believe that having a certain amount of Facebook friends can improve mental health. Communicating with friends and sharing, thoughts, ideas and stories can contribute to improving mental health. You could have a million friends on social media but that does not mean your interacting with all of them. Having just a handful if genuine Facebook friends can be more beneficial. In some way I think this can be bad for some people's mental health because when they see their Facebook friends' perfect posts this can make them think their own lives aren't as glamorous or meaningful. 


It can be very controversial if social media sites should have a responsibility in promoting mental health to their users. I think providing tips on how to help if social media is affecting someone in a negative way is a good idea. Another idea would be to make a page where people could talk about mental health and share feelings with other people that may be feeling the same way.
